Who We Are

Kwame Akuffo | John Burgess | Minna Nathoo

John Burgess

I spent 25 years working in a local authority in London, and have been a consultant for the last 2 years. My background is HR, and within that field my special interest has always been employee relations, and I have had leading roles in that area. As a service manager, I have been a driver for continuous improvement.

Among my most cherished beliefs is that everyone should have an equal chance to maximise their potential, and my work has always been informed by this belief. This has involved me in a journey from implementing equal opportunities policies in the 1980’s, based on the belief that equality is a worthy cause, and that we should treat everyone is the same way, to the conviction that diversity is good for business, via the recognition that treating everyone the same does not lead to equality.

Since becoming a consultant, I have worked for the Cabinet Office, the Prison Service, local authorities, the voluntary sector, and the public housing sector.
