Workshop 7

Recruiting and Selecting a Diverse Workforce

Programme dates: 14 November 2006 & 16 November 2006

London is an amazingly diverse city and the rest of Britain is becoming increasingly so. More importantly national or international services are being provided in a demanding and vibrant ways in which people demand to be respected and treated with fairness and equity

Gender/sex, disability, race and ethnicity, national origins, sexuality, religion and belief are some of the things which account for some of these differences but cannot account for all aspects of diversity. Some of these differences are physical, evident or acknowledged whilst others are often hidden and are not necessarily disclosed.

The business case for Diversity is that these differences present an opportunity for organisations and should not be seen as a threat

This two day workshop addresses the questions how do we recruit and sustain a diverse workforce in a way to bring the benefits of diversity to our organisations

The workshop will cover

  • Images projected by organisations/How organisations are perceived.
Developing and promoting the right image and messages.
  • Identifying your labour market (and segments in that market).
  • Recruitment and Selection – tools and processes (capabilities and competencies, job descriptions, person specification, advertising, interview panels and interviews).
  • Induction and Support.
  • Taking on-board the differences.
  • How do you know that you are doing the right things?
  • Action Plans.

Cost per participant: £360
