Managing Belief and Religion in the Workplace

Objectives
This one day workshop will look at the dynamic changes in religion and religious groups in the UK, the religious Discrimination Act, current and potential impact of the act and what steps organizations should take to incorporate belief and religion in effective people management practice.
The programme will cover
- Overview of the different laws and requirements which have shape the law on discrimination the grounds of religion or belief in the UK.
- Current practice with regard to belief and religion.
- Explore participants knowledge & understanding of their own and others religion and beliefs.
- Examine key issues – dress code, religious holidays, gender and religion, monitoring
- Consider any gaps between knowledge, current practice and the law.
- Identify key aspects of best practice and how to incorporate best practice in to your HR and Diversity policies and practice.
Outcomes (Participants will)
- Understand the changing landscape of religion in the UK.
- Understand the legislation and its impact up to date.
- Consider the impact of Belief, religion in the workplace.
- Understand the management issues that arise from the legislation and the active or silent expression of religion and belief in the workplace.
- Consider best practice and what to learn from that.
- Identify how to respond to the challenge of belief and religion into effective people management and/or equality diversity practice.
